Pursuant to the applicable state statute governing self-storage liens, Kansas City North Storage conducts public auctions after a storage unit has been abandoned or gone into lien. We host auctions online only. Public auction terms, rules, and regulations will be made available prior to the sale on the auction platform along with photos and a description of the items to be sold.

How storage unit auctions work: When a tenant falls behind on rent and doesn’t respond within the timeframe required by Missouri lien law, the contents of that unit may be sold at public auction to recover the unpaid balance. Auctions are held online, with photos and item descriptions posted in advance so bidders can review what’s available before placing a bid.
