Storage Insurance

At Kansas City North Storage, we offer our tenants additional peace of mind with GoodShield® Protection Plans™ when storing their personal valuables in our storage units. For just pennies a day, tenants receive protection for their belongings against unforeseen and unexpected losses. The low-cost protection is conveniently billed with the normal monthly storage unit rent so there are no additional forms or payments to fill out or mail.

Tenants are required to either purchase a Tenant Protection Plan or provide proof of third-party insurance when leasing a storage unit or parking space. If proof is not available at the time of leasing, a protection plan will be added. Tenants may submit proof of coverage within 10 days to 169admin@169storage.com to have the plan cancelled and refunded.

Our protection plans do not cover vehicles or motorized/titled property (including motorcycles, boats, trailers, campers, RVs, UTVs, or ATVs). Proof of third-party insurance is required for these items.

Some homeowners or renters policies may cover stored items; however, tenants should review their policy and confirm with their agent that coverage applies to off-premises storage and fully covers the value of their belongings.

As of January 1st, 2026, coverage options and additional monthly rates are as follows:

  • $13.00/month – coverage up to $1,000
  • $14.00/month – coverage up to $2,000
  • $16.00/month – coverage up to $3,000
  • $20.00/month – coverage up to $5,000
  • $28.00/month – coverage up to $10,000

Affordable Monthly Coverage

Coverage starts at only $13/month for up $1,000 of coverage! Tenants can choose options ranging up to $10,000 of coverage including specialty coverage for flood protection. While we strive to ensure your property is safe, there can still be unforeseen dangers outside of anyone’s control that may damage or destroy your belongings. If your valuables are worth storing, then they are certainly worth the cost of protecting them against loss or damage.

All Tenants Are Approved

Signup is quick and simple with pre-approved protection and no additional background or credit checks. The low monthly cost will be added to your storage rent, and your goods can be protected immediately.

Easy Claims

GoodShield provides tenants with the added security and confidence against unexpected loss of stored belongings due to fire, smoke, lightning, wind, water damage, theft, and other select events. Should a tenant experience a loss, they can be reimbursed up to the amount of their selected protection. Filing a claim is easy and management can assist you if needed.
